According to foreign media reports, recently the criminal police of Saxony, Germany, said that under the energy crisis and the growing demand for solar energy, the theft of solar modules and inverters in Germany increased rapidly in the first half of the year.

According to the data released by the criminal police of Saxony, Germany received 34 theft cases related to solar modules and inverters in the first half of this year, while there were 27 such crimes in 2021, which also means that the solar theft cases in Germany in the first six months of this year have exceeded that of last year.

In Saxony alone, losses in the first half of the year exceeded 250000 euros. In the past two weeks, such reports have become more frequent, including the theft of 114 solar modules from a construction site in Altzberg, Germany, and the theft of solar modules and parts of about 30000 euros ($29790) in Nauen, Brandenburg.

The authorities said that the thieves were members of an organized gang. They used trucks to steal solar modules and components. The modules were most often stolen from large commercial roof and ground installation systems, but the thieves were increasingly targeting smaller residential systems.
